The Colonial Collection
Reclaimed Oak | Smooth Surface | Bespoke Finishes
Nothing quite compares to the beauty of Virginia in autumn, with nature changing her colors and the crisp, cool air giving the earth around us a refreshing sigh of relief after the heat and excitement of summer. Nowhere is this natural splendor more evident than in our own Historic Triangle, Virginia’s (and, in fact, the United States’) colonial birthplace: Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.
What better inspiration, then, could there be for Wellborn + Wright’s autumn collection? An homage to our home state’s heritage and pastoral landscape, the Colonial Collection pairs two vital elements of reclaimed craftsmanship: high quality material that is as equally time-honored and cared for as the historic slice of the nation it represents (in this case, that would be our LEED MR4-100% Post-consumer Recycled Red and White Oak), and hand-mixed, hand-applied bespoke finishes unique to Wellborn + Wright.
Each finish is named after one of the respective points of the Historic Triangle, and each is reminiscent of the dark hardwoods and finishes used in colonial times: Jamestown, the oldest point of the triangle, is the darkest of the three finishes, recalling images of the strong, grand ships that brought the colonists across the Atlantic to our shores. Yorktown and Williamsburg are a step up in brightness, with Williamsburg taking on more red hues while Yorktown showcases more golden tones.
